Barber Program

The Barbering Program at True Grit Barber College is a comprehensive, state-approved course designed to prepare students to meet the requirements for licensure as a professional barber in the State of Illinois.

  • GED or high school diploma required

  • 1500 Hour Program

  • Students develop competency in haircutting, shaving, facial treatments, and chemical services.

  • This programs provides students with the theoretical knowledge necessary to pass the Illinois State Board Barber Examination.

  • $100 Enrollment Fee

Cosmetology Crossover Program

The Barber Crossover Program at True Grit Barber College is a comprehensive, state-approved course designed to build on student’s existing knowledge and prepare them to meet the requirements for licensure as a professional barber in the State of Illinois.

  • Must have active cosmetology license and completed transcript

  • 500 Hour Program

  • Provided students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to pass the Illinois State Board Barber Examination.

  • Builds on existing cosmetology training. Sharpens skills specifically in men’s cutting, grooming, and classic barbering techniques; helping student’s confidently transition into the world of barbering.

Barber Refresher Program

Our Barber Refresher Program is specifically designed for individuals who need to retake the Illinois barber licensing exam, reinstate an expired license, or return to the profession after a period of inactivity.

The 250-hour program fully complies with the standards set by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, ensuring students receive the necessary training to regain licensure and confidently re-enter the field.

Students must pay total tuition before they receive their certificate and are eligible to sign up for the state board examination.
